Product Description
One of the advantages of Calsite is its self-limiting property. When properly applied, it corrects pH only enough to reach a non-corrosive equilibrium. Acid in the water interacts with Calsite to slowly dissolve the Calsite and raise the pH of the water from 5.8 to 6.6. It should be backwashed on a regular basis and replaced periodically as it dissolves. This increase in pH reduces the potential leaching of copper, lead, and other metals found in typical plumbing systems. Periodic backwashing will prevent packing and maintain high service rates. Depending on pH and service flow, the Calsite bed will have to be periodically added to as the dissolved calcite depletes.
