Water containing high levels of iron and manganese is common in ground water all over the Earth. If these elements remain in your water system, they can damage fixtures and appliances and cause staining of clothes and surfaces. A water softener alone is not capable of removing these stainers unless they are present in very low levels. Manganese Greensand is a dense media at 85 pounds per cubic foot. In addition to its filtration properties is can remove soluble iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from well water supplies.
